Budget Buddies Volunteer Opportunity:  Budget Buddies is a new non-profit organization that seeks to improve the financial literacy and independence of low-income women in the Greater Lowell area. The program combines workshops on budgeting, banking, and credit with one-on-one coaching and client support groups.

In September, Budget Buddies will launch a pilot program that will serve clients of the Chelmsford Housing Authority and the Lowell Transitional Living Center. We are seeking coaching volunteers to make a six-month commitment to the program.

After a comprehensive orientation, coaching buddies will participate with clients in the instructional workshops. There will be also be multiple out-of-class exercises that coaches and clients can work on together. Our coaching coordinator will be available to answer any questions that arise and lead monthly coaching support groups.

If you’d like more information about this innovative program, please come to a Budget Buddies open house on Thursday, July 8, or Monday, July 12. Both meetings will be held from 7:00 to 8:30 at the home of Kathy Brough, 14 High Street in Chelmsford.
